The short answer
The seven turmeric supplements we compared do not contain the same thing: from 50 to nearly 200 mg of curcuminoids a day depending on the brand, with or without an absorption technology. Yet the most important point lies elsewhere. In 2022, the French food safety agency Anses recorded 15 cases of hepatitis in France linked to turmeric supplements, set a ceiling of 153 mg of curcumin a day and flagged enhanced-absorption forms, which can cause problems even below that ceiling. Before comparing prices, you therefore need to check the dose.
The comparison, at each brand’s recommended dose
| Brand and product | Per day | Absorption | Price | Cost per day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nat&Form, organic turmeric and piperine | 1,200 mg of rhizome powder; curcumin not stated | black pepper | 12.50 EUR for 200 capsules | 0.25 EUR |
| Novoma, Meriva turmeric and ginger | 99 mg of curcuminoids, of which 74 mg of curcumin | Meriva, phytosome | 25.90 EUR for 60 capsules | 0.43 EUR |
| Dieti Natura, organic turmeric 95% | 199.5 mg of curcuminoids, of which 147 mg of curcumin | concentrated extract | 15.95 EUR for 60 capsules | 0.53 EUR |
| Dynveo, optimised organic curcumin | 90 mg of curcuminoids, of which 69 mg of curcumin | TurmiPure Gold, micro-encapsulation | 33.90 EUR for 60 capsules | 0.57 EUR |
| Nutri&Co, organic turmeric | 90 mg of curcuminoids | TurmiPure Gold, micro-encapsulation | 19.90 EUR for 60 capsules | 0.66 EUR |
| Nutrimuscle, Curcumin Mix | 50 mg of curcumin, with L-ornithine and andrographis | vegetable oil, Okinawa turmeric | 24.95 EUR for 60 capsules | 0.83 EUR |
| Sensilab, Essentials Turmeric Curcumin (60 capsules) | 1,000 mg of NovaSOL blend, extract at 6% curcuminoids (about 60 mg, calculated); ginger 100 mg; vitamin D3 15.4 µg (2 capsules) | NovaSOL micelles | 39.99 EUR for 60 capsules | 1.33 EUR |

What this table tells us
The same extract at Dynveo and Nutri&Co, at different prices
Both brands use TurmiPure Gold, a turmeric extract micro-encapsulated in acacia gum, sunflower oil and quillaja extract, for the same dose of 90 mg of curcuminoids a day. Dynveo puts it in one capsule, Nutri&Co in two. In a bottle of 60, Dynveo works out at 0.57 EUR a day against 0.66 EUR: a 17% gap for an identical ingredient.
Absorption figures cannot be compared
TurmiPure Gold claims absorption « 342 times higher » than a standard extract. These multipliers are supplied by the ingredient manufacturers, each on its own protocol and against its own reference: they cannot be used to rank two products. What we can say is that curcumin on its own is absorbed very poorly, and that encapsulated forms or those combined with black pepper are absorbed better. This is precisely what caught Anses’s attention. For its part, Sensilab claims absorption « 185 times higher » for its NovaSOL, on the same principle.
Novoma: a different form, Meriva, for 0.43 EUR a day
Novoma uses Meriva, a turmeric extract combined with sunflower phospholipids (a phytosome), and adds ginger. One capsule provides 99 mg of curcuminoids of which 74 mg of curcumin, at 25.90 EUR for 60 capsules (recorded on 27/10/2026), which is 0.43 EUR a day, or 0.39 EUR a day in a pack of three bottles. Phytosomes are among the enhanced-bioavailability forms that Anses flags: the dose stays well below the 153 mg ceiling, but the same caution applies here. The brand advises against the product for people taking anticoagulants, cancer drugs or immunosuppressants and for those with a bile duct condition.
Dieti Natura comes close to the Anses ceiling
At the recommended dose of two capsules, Dieti Natura provides 147 mg of curcumin and nearly 200 mg of curcuminoids in total. That is just under the 153 mg ceiling if you count curcumin alone, and above it if you count all the curcuminoids. One capsule a day is enough to stay well below it.
At Sensilab, « curcumin 1,000 mg » is not 1,000 mg of curcumin
Sensilab’s nutrition table shows « curcumin 1,000 mg » for two capsules. That is the weight of the NovaSOL blend, whose ingredient list specifies that the turmeric extract is at 6% curcuminoids: this gives about 60 mg of curcuminoids a day at two capsules, a calculation made from that list. NovaSOL is a micellar form, of the type Anses flags, and the product also contains 100 mg of ginger and 15.4 µg of vitamin D3, to be counted if you already take vitamin D.
What Anses says
In its opinion published on 27 June 2022, Anses reports more than 100 reports of adverse effects in France, including 15 cases of hepatitis, and around twenty cases of hepatitis in Italy. It starts from the acceptable daily intake set by EFSA, 180 mg of curcumin a day for a 60 kg adult, deducts the 27 mg that the biggest consumers already get from their diet, and concludes that supplements should not exceed 153 mg a day.
It stresses that this ceiling applies to standard forms: formulations with enhanced bioavailability, through piperine, phytosome, micelles or encapsulation, can cause adverse effects even below it. It advises against turmeric supplements for people with a bile duct disease and for those taking anticoagulants, cancer drugs or immunosuppressants.
What about turmeric in cooking?
It raises none of these problems. The 27 mg of curcumin that Anses assumes for the biggest consumers of turmeric-containing foods is far from the ceiling, and the spice is poorly absorbed without a specific formulation. Our guide to the anti-inflammatory diet places it among the other levers.
Our view
If you have no bile duct disease and are not on anticoagulant, cancer or immunosuppressant treatment, choose a moderate dose, for a limited period, as Dynveo and Nutri&Co themselves recommend with courses of four to eight weeks. Dynveo’s TurmiPure Gold at one capsule a day is the cheapest of the TurmiPure Gold products; Novoma’s Meriva, another enhanced-absorption form, works out cheaper per day (0.43 EUR against 0.57 EUR). Nat&Form is by far the cheapest per day, but its page does not state the curcumin content, which makes it impossible to place the dose against the Anses ceiling.
