Smooth fruit yoghurt
Smooth fruit yoghurt (yaourt aux fruits brassé) is a dairy product with a smooth, creamy texture, made by fermenting milk and then adding pieces of fruit or fruit purée once the curd has been stirred. Unlike set yoghurt, it has a creamy, almost velvety consistency that is especially popular with children and adults alike. It comes in a wide variety of flavours: strawberry, apricot, peach, red berries or exotic fruits. At around 88.9 kcal per 100 g, it provides good-quality protein, carbohydrate from lactose and the added fruit, as well as calcium. It is an indulgent option that easily finds a place at breakfast, teatime or dessert in a balanced diet.

Tips
Smooth fruit yoghurt fits easily into a balanced day. A classic portion of 100 to 125 g suits teatime, the end of a meal or breakfast. With its 3.17 g of protein and only 2.41 g of fat per 100 g, it remains relatively light. The point to watch is the carbohydrate (12.6 g per 100 g), mostly made up of added sugars and the fruit jam. If you are watching your weight, read the nutrition facts carefully and compare brands: some contain almost twice as much sugar as others.
- Clever pairings: add a handful of oat flakes, some fresh fruit or seeds to increase the fibre, which is absent from the plain product (0.6 g).
- Storage: always keep it in the fridge at between 4 and 6 °C and respect the use-by date.
- Ideal time: as an afternoon snack or a light dessert rather than a rich pastry.
To compare options, low-fat fruit yoghurt reduces the calorie intake, while smooth plain yoghurt leaves you free to control the sugar and fruit yourself. Fat-free fromage blanc is also a higher-protein alternative for a weight-loss snack.
Tips for athletes: thanks to its carbohydrate-to-protein ratio, smooth fruit yoghurt is a good recovery snack after moderate exercise, as it combines sugars to replenish glycogen stores with milk protein for the muscles. You can turn it into a more complete snack by blending it into a smoothie or pairing it with a source of protein. To go further on protein intake around training, discover our protein snack ideas.
Smooth fruit yoghurt belongs to the large family of dairy products, which are sources of calcium and lactic cultures. Eaten in moderation and well chosen, it combines indulgence with nutritional value. Choose low-sugar versions, vary the flavours with the seasons and add fresh fruit to enjoy its benefits without too much sugar.
