Tips

One breadstick weighs 5 g: count 22 kcal. That is the useful unit, and it is what makes them deceptive: ten breadsticks with drinks and you are at 220 kcal without noticing.

15.7 g of fat: this is not bread. A country loaf contains 1.3 g. The fat in the dough and the sesame explain the gap.

1.7 g of salt per 100 g. Ten breadsticks provide 0.85 g, which is modest, but breadsticks rarely come alone with drinks.

They are still a better choice than crisps. Less fat, more protein and fibre. With a dip made from fromage blanc rather than a shop-bought sauce, it makes a decent nibble.

They keep for months. No water means no mould: that is the whole principle of the product, as with rusks.
