Ingredients

Method

  1. Heat the milk and melt the chocolate in it.

  3. Pour the chocolate milk over, stirring, then pour into ramekins.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes in a bain-marie at 160 °C.

Nutritional benefits

Dark chocolate provides its share of antioxidants and magnesium, and its intensity means you can cut back on sugar. With the eggs and milk, you get a high-protein, gluten-free flan that is healthier than shop-bought dessert creams.

Variations and substitutions

  • Made with milk chocolate (milder).
  • With a hint of coffee.
  • With plant-based milk.
  • As little pots of chocolate cream.

Storage and making ahead

Keeps for 3 days in the fridge; serve chilled.

💡 Good to know

Blend the mixture before pouring it: the flan will be even smoother and glossier.
