Ingredients

  2. Mix with the herbs and chilli.
  3. Dress with olive oil and lemon juice.
  4. Leave to rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Nutritional benefits

Tomatoes and peppers are rich in vitamin C, lycopene and antioxidants for very few calories. Chilli and herbs add flavour without unnecessary fat. Ezme is a fresh, spicy, light Turkish salad-dip, ideal as a side for grilled meats or with crudités. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.

Variations and substitutions

  • More or less spicy depending on the chilli.
  • With pomegranate molasses for tang.
  • With crushed walnuts.
  • As a side with grilled meat or fish.

Storage and making ahead

Keeps for 3 days in the fridge and improves with time: best after resting.

💡 Good to know

Chop everything finely with a knife (not in a blender): ezme should keep some crunch and texture, not turn into a purée.
