White dressing for salad
Nutrition per serving
This white salad dressing is made with fromage blanc (a fresh soft cheese), a touch of garlic, vinegar and herbs. As creamy as a cream-based dressing, it is nonetheless very low in fat. Use it on a mixed salad or warm potatoes, or serve it with a sandwich.

Nutritional highlights
According to Ciqual, 0% fat fromage blanc provides about 48 kcal and more than 7 g of protein per 100 g, whereas a classic mayonnaise exceeds 690 kcal. Rapeseed oil, rich in plant-based omega-3s, replaces some of the cream you would usually use. It goes well with a potato salad, a Piedmontese salad or a chicken shawarma.
Variations and substitutions
- With Greek yoghurt for a milder dressing.
- With shallot instead of garlic.
- With mint, for grilled lamb.
- With lemon and cumin, kebab-shop white sauce style.
Storage and making ahead
Keeps for 2 days in the fridge; the garlic becomes stronger over time.
💡 Good to know
Use less garlic than you think you need: raw, it keeps getting stronger while it rests in the fridge.
