Ingredients
Method
- Peel the apples and cut them into pieces.
- Put them in a saucepan with the water and lemon juice.
- Cover and cook gently for 20 minutes.
- Mash with a fork (or blend) and flavour with cinnamon.
Nutritional benefits

Variations and substitutions
- Apple and pear, or apple and rhubarb.
- With vanilla.
- With the skin (blended, more fibre).
- No cooking (grated apples).
Storage and making ahead
Keeps for 5 days in the fridge and can be frozen; put it in sterilised jars to keep it for longer.
💡 Good to know
Choose very ripe, sweet apples (golden or reinette types): there is no need to add sugar, as the fruit does the job.
